Chairman Hancock Announces Public Comment Portal for Electric Reliability Hearing
Senate Business & Commerce Committee to meet Thursday, ask tough questions of industry, regulators

AUSTIN, TX - Sen. Kelly Hancock, Chairman of the Senate Business & Commerce Committee, today announced a web portal through which Texas residents and businesses may submit written comment related to tomorrow's hearing on widespread power outages.

"Texans deserve answers and accountability, and our committee will demand both at this initial investigative hearing," said Chairman Hancock. "From generators to regulators to distributors, every segment of the Texas electricity industry should be prepared to answer tough questions and provide the complete, honest answers Texans are owed."

The hearing to examine extreme weather condition preparedness and circumstances that led to power outages as directed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. A live stream of the proceedings will be available on the Texas Senate website.

Invited testimony for the hearing includes ERCOT and oil and gas infrastructure operators, as well as multiple regulatory agencies and industry representatives from electric generation, transmission and retail distribution companies.

Live public testimony will take place during subsequent hearings. However, members of the public are encouraged to submit written comment for Thursday's hearing through the new web portal at:
