“The American Legislative Exchange Council, ALEC, just awarded me the "2023 Legislator of the Year” award at their National Policy Summit. It is a great honor to have passed the largest $18 billion Property Tax cut in American history!” Stated Senator Bettencourt.
Each year, state legislators are recognized at the ALEC Annual Meeting for their work promoting principles of limited government, free markets, and federalism. Senator Paul Bettencourt was recognized as the "2023 Legislator of the Year" for his work in delivering a record $18 billion of property tax cuts to all 5.72 million Texas homeowners and business owners.
“Senator Phil King, who is a national board member at ALEC, introduced me as a friend and mentor explaining the average $1400/yr homestead savings of SB 2 and SB 3 and the taking of 67K businesses off the Franchise Tax Rolls in the State of Texas! Impressive response from 500 attendees, as they are real experts in the audience of tax and fiscal policy, ESAs, pensions, etc…” he added.
“President Ronald Reagan said there is no limit to what a man can do if he's willing to share the credit. Let me say that right now - THANKS to all those that voted for it in the Legislature, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and most importantly the voters at the ballot box in November where the $18 billion dollar tax reduction plan passed with 83% of the vote…! God Bless Texas!” Concluded Senator Bettencourt.
