Celebrating Chambers County Day at the Texas State Capitol

AUSTIN — Today, Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) authored Senate Resolution 149, declaring February 10, 2015 Chambers County Day at the Texas State Capitol. Chambers County was established as a separate county in 1858 and named in honor of a prominent local resident, Major General Thomas Jefferson Chambers, who was active in the cause of independence.

"The citizens of Chambers County are justifiably proud of their achievements and have played a significant role in the development of the Lone Star State," said Senator Creighton. "It is a privilege to serve the fine citizens of Chambers County as their state senator."

Over 350 residents of Chambers County joined in on the celebration at the State Capitol today, including County Judge Jimmy Sylvia, Commissioners Mark Huddleston, Larry George, Gary Nelson, Rusty Senac, County Clerk Heather Hawthorne, District Clerk Patti Henry, Sherriff Brian Hawthorne, and West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce President Missy Malechek.

SENATOR BRANDON CREIGHTON represents District 4, which encompasses Chambers, Jefferson and parts of Montgomery, Harris, and Galveston Counties. He currently serves on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water and Rural Affairs, the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice, the Senate Committee on State Affairs, and as the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce.
