Austin — Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) was recognized by Bullard ISD at their board meeting on September 16, 2013 for his work on education during the 83rd Legislative Session.
"I am honored by this recognition from the school board," said Nichols. "I will continue to work with each of the 102 school districts within Senate District 3 to ensure students have the tools they need to be successful in their education."
"Bullard ISD recognized Senator Nichols for his work this past session on behalf of the students, teachers, parents, and taxpayers of our district. Senator Nichols stood up for students during this past legislative session by supporting HB 5 and other bills that were helpful to school districts. He does not just give lip service when he says he wants to hear our concerns. Instead, he seeks input, studies the issues, asks questions and involves stakeholders in meetings to benefit the students of Bullard ISD. Our district is thankful that we have a Senator who will represent our school district in such a positive manner," said Keith Bryant, Superintendent for Bullard ISD.
First elected to the Texas Senate in 2006, Robert Nichols represents 19 counties including the greater part of East Texas.
During his four sessions as a state senator, Nichols authored and passed legislation to protect landowners' rights, increase educational opportunities in East Texas and reform transportation policies. He has worked to reduce Medicaid fraud, and promote free-market principles. He was designated as a Champion for Children by the Equity Center, Top Legislator by Texas Insider and a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business.
