Austin — State Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) was recently honored with the "Courageous Conservative" award by the Texas Conservative Coalition (TCC) for the 83rd Texas Legislature.
This award was given in recognition of his efforts to advance, support and vote for conservative policy positions in the 83rd Texas Legislature, and is based on a comprehensive review of 100 record votes. It is the second time Nichols has received the award.
"I am humbled to again be honored by such a wonderful organization," said Nichols. "Since being elected to the Senate in 2006, I have always worked closely with the Texas Conservative Coalition and supported their efforts for fiscal conservatism and traditional social values."
The TCC is the conservative caucus of the Texas Legislature and operates under four guiding principles: Limited Government, Individual Liberty, Free Enterprise and Traditional Values. According to the TCC, Nichols was "an effective and unwavering advocate of these principles" during this session.
Nichols will be formally presented with the award at a function held in Senate District 3 in the near future.
"Each vote I take is with my constituents in mind," said Nichols. "It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to represent them in the Texas Senate."
