Austin — Yesterday, Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) joined Austin Bank employees in celebrating the company's selection as a best place to work in Texas. Austin Bank was recognized as the nineteenth best medium-sized company to work for in Texas during an awards ceremony today in Austin.
"Austin Bank is the kind of company that makes East Texans proud," said Nichols who is a board member of the bank. "It is an example of business that is thriving, creating good jobs and providing a positive work environment."
Jeff Austin III, the Vice Chairman of Austin Bank, thanked Nichols for his support of the bank and other East Texas Businesses.
"As a former business owner, Nichols understands the importance of preserving a healthy business climate in Texas," said Austin. "We are proud to have him serve on the Austin Bank Board and even more proud he serves our region in the Texas Senate."
This is the fourth year for Austin Bank to be recognized as a best place to work in Texas. The Best Companies to Work For award is a collaborative project of Texas Monthly magazine, the Texas Association of Business, the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and Best Companies Group.
What is now Austin Bank began as The First National Bank of Jacksonville more than 100 years ago. Early visionaries wanted to nurture a bank that would grow deep roots in the community and thrive with the passage of time. In 1996, the Austin's six affiliate banks changed their name to Austin Bank. Soon after in 1999, the six banks formed one charter with 17 offices.
