Austin -- Today state Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) came to Austin to meet with a delegation from Angelina County at the Texas Capitol.
"It's always a thrill when you can personally welcome people from the district to the Capitol," said Nichols. "I enjoyed visiting with representatives from Angelina County and hearing their concerns."
Nichols joined the group for an informal lunch at the Capitol Grill. "Informal meetings often create a great opportunity because we aren't stuck having to talk about a particular subject," said Nichols. "It allows people to really share what's on their minds."
The Angelina County group consisted members from area chambers of commerce. After lunch with Nichols and Rep. Jim McReynolds (D-Lufkin), the group met with Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, who formerly represented Angelina County.
Other meetings the group attended include briefings by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Health and Human Services Commission and the Department of Aging and Disabilities Services.
