Moratorium on private toll roads heads to the Governor.
AUSTIN -- Today the Texas House voted to concur with the Senate version of HB 1892 which contains a two-year moratorium on private toll roads. The bill is now headed to the Governor where he will have ten days to sign the bill into law or veto it. Nichols, who has led the effort on passing the moratorium released the following statement:
"This is landmark legislation for putting the needs of Texas drivers above the pockets of private shareholders. It required the effort of many members of the House and Senate, but today the Legislature sent a clear message, we will not sell our transportation system at bargain-basement prices."
Today's House vote to concur was 139 to 1.
