Senator César J. Blanco Donates over 900 backpacks during 12th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway Series

El Paso, Texas – Senator César J. Blanco wrapped up his 12th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway Series, providing more than 500 backpacks to students across Senate District 29 ahead of the 2026-27 school year. This year’s giveaways were held at Desert Wind Elementary School in Socorro ISD, Capistrano Elementary School in Ysleta ISD, and Terlingua CSD.

Each year, schools are selected using the Texas Education Agency’s Economically Disadvantaged Status Reports to help ensure backpacks and school supplies reach students and families who may need additional support as they prepare for the new school year.

Senator Blanco issued the following statement:

“Getting our students ready for a successful school year starts with making sure they have the tools they need to walk into the classroom with confidence.

At a time when families are feeling the squeeze from rising costs of groceries and rent to utility bills, the expense of back-to-school shopping can be one more challenge to manage. These backpack giveaways help take some of that pressure off, giving students the supplies they need and families one less thing to worry about.

I'm grateful to the schools, community partners, and volunteers who help make these events possible year after year.”
