FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 20, 2025
El Paso, Texas – Today, Senator César J. Blanco concluded his 11th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drives, events dedicated to providing low-income families in Senate District 29 with a free turkey for Thanksgiving. This year, Senator Blanco’s office distributed 250 turkeys to economically disadvantaged families in El Paso and Balmorhea, ensuring families in both urban and rural parts of the region could celebrate the holiday with a warm Thanksgiving meal.
Senator Blanco issued the following statement:
“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re grateful for and a time to give back to those in need. For many families, the holidays can also bring added stress and financial challenges. I’m proud that our office, along with our community partners, can help make the season a little brighter by ensuring low-income families across West Texas have a warm meal to share.
“These events are one of my favorite traditions because they truly reflect the spirit of our community and how we come together to support one another. I want to thank our partners and sponsors, Walmart, HOME, the Balmorhea Housing Authority, and the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank for their generosity and dedication to helping families across our region sit down to a holiday meal with less financial stress. Thank you for helping us uplift our community!”
