State housing agency to release $97 million for first time homebuyer initiative at June 12 event in Laredo

| WHAT: | The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) and the Honorable Judith Zaffirini, in conjunction with June’s designation by Governor Rick Perry as Homeownership Month in Texas, will announce the release of $97 million for a major new homebuyer initiative. |

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is Texas’ lead agency responsible for affordable housing, community and energy assistance programs, and colonia activities. TDHCA annually administers funds in excess of $400 million, the majority of which are derived from mortgage revenue bond financing and refinancing, federal grants, and federal tax credits.
