Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa to be Sworn in as President Pro Tempore as the 84th Legislative Session Begins
WHAT:

The 84th Legislative Session begins on Tuesday with the swearing-in ceremony of our state Legislators. Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa will also be sworn in as President Pro Tempore. Senator Hinojosa will be nominated by his Senate colleagues and he will then deliver an acceptance speech which will include his lessons of life and public service.

According to the Senate Rules, at the beginning of each Legislative Session, the Senate shall elect one of its members President Pro Tempore who shall perform the duties of the Lieutenant Governor in the case of his absence or disability.

Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa proudly represents the counties of Nueces, Jim Wells, Brooks, and Hidalgo (part). Senator Hinojosa serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations, Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, and is a member of the Senate Committees on Natural Resources; Criminal Justice; Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security as well as the Legislative Budget Board (LBB) and the Sunset Advisory Commission.
