AUSTIN — Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa has been recognized by the Texas Association of Business (TAB) as a "Champion of Free Enterprise" for the 2013 Legislative Session. He was honored with this award for his legislative record of voting pro-business, pro-economic development, and pro-job creation.
Senator Hinojosa expressed his appreciation for the award and remarked on the importance of job creation to meet Texas's growing economic needs:
"I am honored that the Texas Association of Business has recognized me with this distinguished award. Texas consistently leads the nation in job creation and boasts a lower unemployment rate than the national average. Our recipe of low taxes, a predictable regulatory climate, and fair legal system has made Texas the best State to do business in."
"This session I fought for significant investments in infrastructure so that our commerce moves efficiently, sponsored measures to develop an educated workforce, and authored legislation to promote job creation, retention, and small business assistance. I will continue to support job-creating measures that provide jobs for families, opportunities for young people, and an educated workforce for our businesses."
Bill Hammond, President and CEO of TAB, remarked on Senator Hinojosa's distinction: "This was a good legislative session for business. We are proud to honor Senator Hinojosa for his support of the business community and the kind of legislation that will keep the Texas economy moving in the right direction. We must continue to create jobs and opportunity and Senator Hinojosa's support of business friendly legislation will do just that."
