"Governor Rick Perry today appointed Transportation Commissioner Ted Houghton to lead the Texas Transportation Commission as its Chairman. I have worked with Chair Houghton over the years, and I am confident that he has the experience and vision to guide the agency through the changes we asked for in the last two Sunset reviews.

As a resident of El Paso, Chair Houghton understands the vast needs of the Border and has been supportive of the various road improvements underway in the region. He also has extensive knowledge of the mobility demands around the rest of the state.
