(Austin, TX) — Today, Texas lawmakers gather in the state capitol to commemorate the first day of the 82nd Legislative Session which will convene at noon. Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa representing Brooks, Jim Wells, Nueces and Hidalgo County, sends a message to his constituents.
"I hope to see constituents from District 20 in my office today, where I will have an informal inauguration day reception. I also want to remind everyone that my Capitol and District offices are always open and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to learn about the issues we will deal with in the coming days."
"I am excited to be back in the capitol but I know the next 140 days will be some of the toughest I've seen yet. Texas is facing many difficulties today, but be assured that my staff and I will work tirelessly to overcome these challenges and find a way to minimize the negative impact on Texas families."
"Now, more than ever we need to work together. The budget deficit, underfunded schools and state services and other needs of our constituents can only be addresses through bipartisan collaboration."
"I’ve represented my constituents with honor and I will continue to do so, crafting policies that will make Texas a better place for our families."
