DENTON, TX - Texas Woman’s University celebrates today the official grand opening of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership.
The Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership will prepare young women at Texas Woman’s University for a lifetime of service, commitment and contribution. The Institute will also provide an interactive learning environment for young Texans to learn about the woman suffrage movement and the contributions of women leaders to Texas’ history.
To commemorate the grand opening of the Institute, Governor Abbott issued a proclamation making November 4th “Jane Nelson Day.” The Proclamation reads, “The legacy of Senator Nelson’s time in the Texas Senate will truly be remembered for years to come, and her unwavering commitment to public service and her fellow Texans is to be commended and admired.”
“It is a tremendous honor to partner with Texas Woman’s University to prepare the next generation of Texas women with the leadership skills they will need to be successful in their careers,” said Senator Jane Nelson, R - Flower Mound. “As a teacher and former member of the State Board of Education, education has always been a top priority to me; it means so much to me to continue shaping our future in this way.”
