Austin, Texas– Today, Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) issued the following statement on the 3rd Called Session of the 88th Legislature:
The future of Texas begins in the classroom, and as lawmakers, we must walk the talk on educational opportunities for the 6 million students in Texas schools. I stand ready to advance a bold education agenda, and I am thankful that the Governor is calling us back. I am filing legislation that will provide historic new dollars for public schools and across the board pay raises for teachers, and much needed reforms that are consistent with the bills I passed out of the Senate during the regular session.
We will also not leave until we finally empower Texas families with education freedom. There is no reason Texas should stand apart from 30 other states, 10 of which offer education savings accounts, to provide the next generation with the opportunities they need to succeed.
Effective education policies passed today determine the Texas of tomorrow–but we must also swiftly address the emergency unfolding at the southern border.
Texas is ground zero for this national security crisis, and we will act when Biden refuses to do so. I applaud Governor Abbott for adding this to the call, and stand ready to once again pass my legislation that affirms Texas sovereignty by declaring an invasion at the southern border, and I will be bringing, once again, my border wall legislation forward giving the state of Texas eminent domain authority to complete the Texas border wall. Without this legislation, a Texas border wall will never happen.
