Senator Brandon Creighton statement on the passage of H.B. 2127, the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act

Austin, Texas — Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) offered the following statement on the passage of the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act:

“The Texas Regulatory Consistency Act, the most pro-business, pro-growth bill of the 88th session has passed the Senate. HB 2127 gives Texas job creators the certainty they need to invest and expand by providing statewide consistency and ending the days of activist local officials creating a patchwork of regulation outside their jurisdiction. Local governments acting as lawmakers in a patchwork of varying anti-business ordinances result in job killing outcomes.

I have worked to advance this concept for years, and the bill would probably be languishing in committee if it weren't for Chairman Dustin Burrows spearheading the effort this session in the Texas House. The Texas Regulatory Consistency Act will surely be a model for other states and I look forward to finalizing the details to get the bill to Governor Abbott’s desk.

I also want to thank NFIB and the many, many groups who have worked for years to make this bill possible. The small businesses who weathered covid shutdowns and are now fighting historic inflation never gave up, and I am proud to deliver them certainty that Texas is open for business.”
