Austin, Texas–Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) offered the following statement on the passage of House Bill 1, the Texas Senate:
"The Texas Senate budget passed today is proof that the Texas model works. Without a commitment to pro-business, pro-family, pro-education, and pro-growth policies, the unprecedented investments made in the state budget would not be possible. The biennial budget delivers $416.5 billion in property tax relief, $5 billion for public education, pay raises for Texas teachers, universal school choice, increased funding for border security and Operation Lone Star, improvements to the state's electric grid, election integrity measures, and many other priorities for our rapidly expanding state.
As Chairman of the Senate Education committee and Article 3 workgroup, I am proud of the unparalleled investments made in Texas education, including public education and teachers, higher education, targeted investments for workforce training, and policies that provide access and opportunities for all Texas students.
I would like to express my gratitude to Chairwoman Joan Huffman for her leadership, and to Lt. Governor Patrick for his unwavering commitment to conservative budgets that ensure a prosperous future for Texas."
