AUSTIN, TX -- Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. will unveil his "Slow Down and Live" Campaign to encourage motorists to drive slower in an effort to reduce accidents caused by speeding, especially during the holidays when streets and highways are more congested with travelers and shoppers.

"Although speeding is a problem at all times, during the holidays we have shoppers who become impatient with higher volumes of traffic and they tend to rush," said Sen. Lucio. "At this time of year we have a lot of people traveling, and we want them to reach their loves ones. Reducing speed plays a huge role in helping us get to our destinations safely."

At the press conference, Sen. Lucio will be joined by several law enforcement officials representing the Texas Department of Public Safety, local sheriffs, police chiefs and other officials who serve the five-county area comprising his Senatorial District (27). The counties are Cameron, Hidalgo, Kenedy, Kleberg and Willacy.

Sen. Lucio will provide media packets with more information and will be handing out bumper stickers intended to remind motorists to slow down!
