AUSTIN, TX--Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. today announced that the Texas Historical Commission (THC) is sponsoring a 2004 Community Heritage Development Workshop on Thursday, March 4, from 8:30 a.m. until noon, at the Texas State Capitol Extension Auditorium, Room E1.004.
"I strongly encourage our South Texas community leaders and officials to attend this workshop where they can learn the tools needed for developing programs that enhance the economic viability of their areas," said Sen. Lucio. "By participating in historic preservation, our towns and cities can either shape their own preservation future or promote visitation to historic and cultural sites."
Through the THC's Community Heritage Development Division, communities can learn to preserve their historic resources through programs such as the Texas Heritage Trails Program, the Texas Main Street Program, the Certified Local Government Program and the Visionaries in Preservation Program.
