AUSTIN — Today, Senator Hinojosa issued the following statement in response to the Federal Aviation Administration designating Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi as a test site for unmanned aircraft systems:
"I congratulate Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, The Texas A&M University System, as well as county and local governments for joining together in the effort to pursue this F.A.A. designation and for being selected as one of six test sites nationwide. As a future site for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), the Texas economy stands to benefit greatly. It is estimated that over the next ten years this program will produce an economic impact of more than $6.5 billion with over 8,200 new jobs created."
