AUSTIN—State Senator Joan Huffman and other members of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee received testimony this week in Austin concerning interim charges addressing the state's H1N1 Influenza preparedness and response, our continued and growing need for healthcare providers, and issues impacting Texans who rely on community and home-based services.
"In anticipation of budget limitations, it is imperative we lay the groundwork for tough policy decisions we will face next year. We must formulate a responsible strategy which keeps children, seniors and our most vulnerable citizens a top priority as we review the delivery of state services."
Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst released interim charges for each Senate committee to examine, review, and submit recommendations for consideration next session. Interim charges are policy topics concerning various legislative proposals and the role of state government.
