AUSTIN — Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, has been named to the newly-created Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports. The committee is charged with studying the potential economic benefits for Texas ports relating to of the Panama Canal expansion.
"As the one of the world's largest economies, we need to make sure Texas continues to lead the way as new opportunities arise for our ports, both coastal and inland," Senator Nelson said.
The select committee will focus on what Texas ports must do to remain competitive in this new era. Senator Nelson represents Alliance Texas - a development in north Fort Worth that includes the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, a major inland port.
