AUSTIN, TX – Texas voters have approved several proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution, including Proposition 1, authored by Texas State Senator Jane Nelson (R-Flower Mound) delivering $1.24 billion in property tax relief.
"Texans just made it very clear that they believe the property tax burden is too high. We have seen home values and property tax bills rise exponentially over the years, but the homestead exemption remained flat - until now. I am thrilled that homeowners will receive a much-needed break with the passage of Proposition 1," Senator Nelson said.

Senator Nelson also commented on the passage of Proposition 7, which she joint authored.
"Transportation is more than a quality-of-life issue in my district. It impacts public safety, our air quality and our ability to grow and prosper. I am grateful to the voters for allowing us to dedicate the funding needed to jump start the transportation projects that will keep the Texas economy moving forward," she said.
