AUSTIN – The Senate Committee on State Affairs today approved SB 60 by Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, to align state statutes for Child Advocacy Centers with best practices.
"These are small but important changes that will help child advocates better serve child victims," said Senator Nelson. "This bill will strengthen our ability to protect and help child victims of abuse."
SB 60 clarifies that forensic interviews for child victims can be conducted offsite and do not always have to take place at Child Advocacy Center locations. It also clarifies that recorded forensic interviews of child victims cannot be distributed to unauthorized parties.
