AUSTIN — Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, has been appointed to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Human Trafficking by the Lieutenant Governor. The committee, which was first established in 2011, will continue to study ways to further combat human trafficking and identify services available to its victims.
"Human trafficking is a heinous crime that needs to be confronted," said Senator Nelson. "We cannot allow vulnerable people to be exploited by human traffickers, and I look forward to serving on this committee to study ways we can prevent and deter these crimes."
Senator Nelson was appointed with six other Senators who will serve alongside seven House members. The committee will release a report on its findings ahead of the next legislative session.
