AUSTIN — The Texas House of Representatives today passed SB 152 by Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, expands protections for patients at state hospitals by increasing oversight, enhancing employee training and strengthening abuse and neglect reporting requirements.
"After hearing of preventable tragedies at state hospitals during the interim, the Legislature has responded quickly to solve these issues," said Senator Nelson. "Individuals in our state hospitals are one of the most vulnerable populations we serve, and we must ensure they are treated with the highest level of care."
The bill now goes to the governor's desk for his signature.
