AUSTIN — Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, today was named a Fighter for Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business (TAB) for her strong pro-business voting record during the 81st Legislative Session and commitment to the employers of Texas.
"District 12 has a legislator who understands the needs of business," said TAB President Bill Hammond. "Senator Nelson is a warrior in supporting business legislation resulting in job creation, economic expansion and opportunity for all Texans."
During the session, she co-authored legislation that reduced the state's main business tax for 90 percent of companies. Another of her bills created Healthy Texas, a new statewide initiative that helps small businesses offer affordable health insurance to employees.
"As owner of a manufacturing company, I understand the challenges business owners face every day," said Senator Nelson. "For Texas to succeed and to have good jobs for our citizens, we need our businesses to succeed."
