AUSTIN -- Governor Rick Perry today issued a call on the Texas Legislature, asking legislators to report to the State Capitol for a special session on educational excellence and property tax relief beginning Tuesday, April 20, 2004.
"This special session will provide citizens, local leaders and legislators the opportunity to carefully review the various alternatives that have been suggested," Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Lewisville, said. "I encourage citizens to communicate with their legislators about their preferences among the various alternatives or suggest their own ideas that may not be on the table."
According to the Texas Constitution, each special session may last no longer than 30 days and is limited in content to items specified by the governor on the official call.
A copy of the official call -- after it has been received and processed by the Secretary of the Senate -- will be posted on Senator Nelson's web site at www.nelson.senate.state.tx.us
