AUSTIN -- State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, has been appointed Chairman of the Senate Interim Committee on Prompt Pay and will investigate ways to mitigate some of the health care billing problems that are affecting doctors and patients.
"This is a critically important piece of today's health care delivery puzzle, and I am grateful that the lieutenant governor has entrusted me with this responsibility. I am looking forward to hearing from all sectors of the health care industry about ways we can improve the current situation," Senator Nelson said.
The Committee will evaluate current state law and agency rules designed to ensure the payment of health insurance claims to providers by insurance companies and recommend ways to improve the process. The committee will issue its report back to next Legislature, which reconvenes in January 2003.
