FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Senator Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood, TX) today commented on the critical need to ensure law enforcement is adequately funded. This comes in response to calls from radical extremists and liberal city councils in a number of Texas cities to defund police. Taylor represents Texas State Senate District 11, which encompasses most of Brazoria and Galveston Counties and parts of Harris County.
“On a day that we honor the sacrifices of our first responders on that terrible day in 2001, I want our local law enforcement to know that I stand with them. It’s vital that we give law enforcement officers the resources they need to fight crime, protect our families, and uphold law and order,” Taylor said. “In these times of unrest and uncertainty, the last thing we need is to make our police scramble to fund their departments. Defunding the police is irresponsible, dangerous, and will only put vulnerable Texans at increased risk for violence, exploitation, and harm.”
Senator Larry Taylor is a lifelong Texan and Baylor University graduate. In the Texas legislature, he has earned a reputation for being pro-education, pro-business, and a tough fighter for the communities of the Gulf Coast. He is Chairman of the Senate Education Committee and a member of the Senate Committees on Finance, Higher Education, and Water and Rural Affairs.
He and his wife Kerri have three adult children, three grandchildren, and reside in Friendswood.
