Senate Committee on Human Services approves Legislative Recommendations
AUSTIN - The Senate Committee on Human Services held their last public hearing of this interim at the State Capitol today, June 14th, 2000, to vote on recommendations regarding the charges issued by Lt. Governor Rick Perry to be studied during the interim.
The unanimously approved recommendations dealt with the management of long-term care, welfare reform, people with disabilities, child support, foster care, and the functioning or fusion of different human service agencies. The recommendations will be in the committees report, which is due in September. The report will be used in the drafting of bills by the 77th Legislature, which convenes in January of 2001.
Members of the committee include Senators Judith Zaffirini of Laredo serving as chair, John Carona of Dallas serving as vice-chair, David Bernsen of Beaumont, Mario Gallegos of Houston and Chirs Harris of Arlington.
The committee has adjourned.
