Sen. Kelly Hancock Statement on Senate Passage of Texas Property Tax Reform and Transparency Act of 2019

AUSTIN, TX - Sen. Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) this evening issued the following statement regarding the Texas Senate's passage of SB 2, the Texas Property Tax Reform and Transparency Act of 2019. Hancock served as the Senate's Conference Committee Chairman and chief negotiator for the bill.

"This is a historic day at the Texas Capitol. SB 2 contains landmark property tax rate-setting and appraisal reforms estimated to save Texas taxpayers more than $2.6 billion over the next five years.

"Today, the Texas Legislature put the interests of the people of Texas above the interests of any level of government, and I'm honored to be a part of it. An unreasonable property tax burden should never prevent Texans from realizing and retaining the American dream of owning a house and making it a home."

Sen. Hancock represents Texas Senate District 9, which includes portions of Dallas and Tarrant Counties. He currently serves as Chairman of the Texas Senate Committee on Business & Commerce and Vice Chair of the Texas Senate Transportation Committee.
