AUSTIN, TX -- State Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. will honor former Sen. Frank Madla tomorrow, Jan. 23, the day he would have turned 70, with a Memorial Resolution in the Texas Senate. Sen. Madla died Nov. 24, 2006, in a house fire in San Antonio.
Co-authoring the Resolution is Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, who will also honor Sen. Madla's five-year-old granddaughter, Aleena, and his mother-in-law, Mary Cruz, 81, both of whom perished in the fire, with separate Resolutions that Sen. Lucio will co-author. The entire body of the Senate will sign onto all three documents.
Accepting the Resolutions will be Sen. Madla's wife, Helen Madla; son, Dr. Frank Madla III; daughter, Marci Madla; brother, Ralph Madla; and other members of the family.
Gov. Rick Perry is scheduled to participate in the ceremony that will begin shortly after the Senate convenes at 10 a.m.
