Senator Menéndez Issues a Statement on the Passing of Southwest Voter Registration Education Project President, Antonio Gonzalez

San Antonio, TX — State Senator José Menéndez has released the following statement on the passing of Antonio Gonzalez, President of the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (SVREP). Senator José Menéndez released the following statement:

"It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our esteemed colleague and Southwest Voter Registration Education Project President, Antonio Gonzalez. On behalf of the state of Texas, and the large Latino population that Gonzalez helped mobilize throughout the years, we send his family our deepest condolences during this difficult time."

"Our state has lost an extraordinary man and we will always be grateful for the legacy he leaves behind in his pursuit of progress to our nation in the form of voter registration, education and engagement."
