Senator Hinojosa Announces His General Counsel is Leaving for New Role at Magellan Health

AUSTIN, TX -- Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa announces his Deputy Chief of Staff and General Counsel Jennifer Saenz is leaving his office this week to pursue new opportunities. Jennifer has been with Senator Hinojosa's office for almost six years and worked on issues related to Finance, Sunset, healthcare, tax policy, natural resources, regulatory agencies, veterans affairs, as well as handled press releases and social media.

Jennifer is leaving the Texas Senate for a new role with Magellan Health, a company committed to serving individuals with complex conditions thru its healthcare and pharmacy programs. She will serve as Senior Director of Regional Government Affairs covering Texas and several surrounding states starting January 22, 2018.

"Jennifer Saenz is leaving for a new job and new adventure and we wish her the best! She was my right-hand in finance and healthcare issues. Her energy and work ethic are unparalleled and she is a gifted writer. I appreciate Jennifer's service and commitment to the constituents and citizens of Senate District 20 and the entire state. I have supervised and mentored her, but I have also learned from her. We will miss her greatly," said Senator Hinojosa.

Meredith Delk, SVP, Government Affairs Magellan Health also commented, “Senator Hinojosa and his team have always maintained a deep understanding of healthcare policy and how Texans are affected by it. I couldn’t be happier that a key member of his staff will be joining Magellan. Ms. Saenz’ expertise in both the legislative and policy arenas will be a fantastic asset.”

As an Attorney licensed in Texas and Massachusetts, Jennifer earned a J.D. from New England Law, Boston and a B.A. from Boston College. Jennifer previously served in the Texas House of Representatives as General Counsel to State Representative Abel Herrero and subsequently for former State Representative Veronica Gonzales before working for Senator Hinojosa in 2012.

Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa proudly represents the counties of Nueces, Jim Wells, Brooks, and Hidalgo (part). Senator Hinojosa currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and serves on the Senate Committees on Transportation; Natural Resources & Economic Development; Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs as well as the Sunset Advisory Commission.
