AUSTIN, TX — Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa has released a Border Security Proposal to work in collaboration with current budget recommendations. Senator Hinojosa's proposal does not include extending the deployment of the National Guard Troops along the Rio Grande Valley border, a presence he has opposed from the very beginning.

Senator Hinojosa intends to work with leadership and his Senate colleagues to develop a carefully crafted solution emphasizing cost effective border security measures. Attached is a copy of the Memorandum outlining Senator Hinojosa's Border Security Plan.

Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa proudly represents the counties of Nueces, Jim Wells, Brooks, and Hidalgo (part). Senator Hinojosa serves as the Senate President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate in the 84th Texas Legislature. Senator Hinojosa currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, and serves on the Senate Committees on Natural Resources & Economic Development, Criminal Justice, Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs as well as the Legislative Budget Board (LBB), and the Sunset Advisory Commission.
