Hinojosa: On the Death of a Murderer
THE FALL OF OSAMA BIN LADEN

(Austin, TX) — On Sunday, an elite team of the U.S. Military and top intelligence officials put an end to Osama bin Laden , one of the most prominent and known leaders of al-Qaida. The news came a few months short of the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, a terrorist attack of enormous impact, and 12 years after the 1998 Nairobi U.S. Embassy bombings. Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, a Vietnam veteran, released the following statement.

"It's been almost ten years since Osama bin Laden claimed the lives of over 2,000 people, but on Sunday, the gavel of justice finally struck him down. Individuals of all nationalities and faith have been victims of his violence and we must remember and honor them - in particular those tied to 9/11 and the 1998 Nairobi embassy attack.

"This was a great victory for our soldiers and intelligence officials who have been working around the clock to promote freedom and security at home and abroad. This event is also a strong validation of the thousands of lives that have been lost to the hatred and violence of terrorism.

"As a veteran Marine, I want to thank the United States armed forces and our intelligence community for their valor and courage. Though Osama's death does not signify that the threat of terrorism in over, it does signify a great blow to one of the most abhorrent terrorist organizations in the world.

"This is a great step forward in our fight to rid the world of the violent means and philosophies endorsed by Osama bin Laden and other terrorist groups around the world that kill innocent men, women and children."
