Senator Nelson and Representative Price Commend Staff of Sunset Advisory Commission on National Recognition

AUSTIN – Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, and Representative Four Price, R-Amarillo, today congratulated the Texas Sunset Commission on being selected as a winner of a 2015 National Legislative Program Evaluation Society (NLPES) Certificate of Impact. NLPES, which is affiliated with the National Conference of State Legislatures, recognized the Sunset Advisory Commission for its report on the University Interscholastic League (UIL) during the 2014-2015 cycle.

"Congratulations to Sunset staff on this important recognition," said Senator Nelson. "Sunset conducted thoughtful reviews of several state agencies this cycle, and their work lead to meaningful reforms in the 84th Legislature. This award reinforces the benefit of the Sunset process, which has led to greater efficiency and effectiveness throughout state government."

"Throughout my four years of service on the Sunset Advisory Commission, I have worked closely with the Sunset staff. At all times have they demonstrated detailed subject matter expertise in all policy areas they reviewed," said Representative Price. "Texas is truly blessed to have these exemplary and dedicated public servants working tirelessly on her behalf. Congratulations on this worthy and well-deserved recognition."

Senator Nelson is currently serving as Chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission, and Representative Price serves as Vice Chair.

SENATOR JANE NELSON represents District 12, including portions of Denton and Tarrant counties. She is chair of the Senate Finance Committee and the highest ranking Republican in the Texas Senate.
