AUSTIN — The Texas House of Representatives today passed SB 149 by Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, to strengthen governance and increase transparency and accountability at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT):
"SB 149 ensures the Institute will operate with the upmost accountability and transparency. More importantly, it will allow us to resume our historic effort to fight cancer. The transgressions that have occurred at CPRIT are inexcusable and will never be tolerated again. Setting up this Institute is one of the most important things the Legislature has ever done, and I am looking forward to its bright future," said Senator Nelson."
The bill will now return to the Senate where differences between the House and Senate versions will be discussed and agreed upon before being sent to the Governor for his signature.
