In 1972 an aerial view of West Dallas indicated that Lone Star Cement Co. had closed and was being redeveloped as an industrial park. How- ever, many of the other companies, historically associated with West Dallas remained in opera- tion.

The tank farms were still present although greatly dimin- ished in size. Trinity Portland Cement was still releasing particulate into the West Dallas sky as was another facili- ty--RSR/Murmur--and the proximity of worker housing to heavy industry remained largely unchanged. New com- panies that came to the area were similar to those alrea- dy present and included scrap metal and auto wrecking yards, as well as plating, industrial coating, metal casting and chemical companies.
