The Flood of 1908, as it came to be known, cost the citizens of the city $2.5 million in flood dam- aged infrastructure and private pro- perty, not counting lost business revenues.
West Dallas was largely uninhabit- ed, and was mostly floodplain that was either farmed or utilized as a source for raw materials.
